Why Billables AI Does Not Integrate With Mobile Phone Calls

Billables AI captures work activity from core practice systems including email, documents, calendars, and supported call platforms, but does not currently integrate with mobile phone call logs.

Why mobile phone integration is not currently supported

Unlike business communication platforms, mobile phone carriers do not provide a consistent, reliable, or standardized way for third-party applications to access detailed call information in a way that is suitable for billing, compliance, and auditability.

Even with user permission, carrier-level call data is typically:

  • Highly restricted or abstracted

  • Inconsistent across carriers and devices

  • Lacking the contextual information needed to generate accurate billing narratives

  • Not exposed through stable, enterprise-grade APIs

As a result, there is no single, comprehensive integration that can be built to reliably capture mobile phone activity in a way that meets professional billing standards.

Supported call platforms

Billables AI does integrate with modern business communication platforms that are designed for enterprise use and provide structured, accessible call data. These platforms include:

  • Zoom

  • Microsoft Teams

  • RingCentral

  • 8x8

These systems expose call metadata in a way that allows Billables AI to:

  • Attribute activity to the correct user

  • Capture accurate timestamps and duration

  • Generate compliant, reviewable time entries

This is why we generally recommend firms route business calls through one of these supported platforms rather than personal mobile numbers.

Looking ahead

We are continuously evaluating new avenues to capture work activity more holistically as technology and access models evolve. However, any future expansion in this area must meet our standards for reliability, privacy, and billing accuracy.

For now, mobile carrier call logs do not meet those requirements.

If you have questions about supported call platforms or best practices for capturing phone-based work, our team is happy to help.
