Clio Billing Integration
The Billables & Clio integration allows for seamless syncing of client matters from Clio to Billables.

How it works

A one-time setup per firm is all it takes (see below for instructions).

Any updates to Clio client matters will be reflected in Billables automatically.

Billing codes will be managed via Clio instead of Billables.
Setting Up the Clio Integration
First, ensure that the Clio account and Billables account for each user are using the same work email. Not sure how to check? See FAQs for more info.

Go to the Integrations page on Billables and select Clio from the Billing integrations dropdown:

Click on the Authorize button. You must be a Clio admin to authorize on behalf of the organization.

Click "Allow Access" to authorize the integration.

Your billing code page should now show that your codes are managed by Clio.
FAQs
Who can add, update or delete billing codes once the Clio x Billables integration is enabled?
Anyone who has access to open, edit or close matters in Clio. Once the integration is enabled, all changes to billing codes will be made through Clio and follow the Clio account settings for access.
Will everyone in the firm get the same billing codes?
Yes, all Billables users from the same org will have the same set of billing codes.
How often do billing codes sync between Clio and Billables?
New matters and edits to existing matters are synced every hour between Clio and Billables. Closed matters are synced daily.
Why isn't my Clio integration working?

Make sure the Clio admin has authorized the org-level billing code sync on the Integrations page.

Make sure you have authorized your individual Clio integration on the Integrations page.

Make sure you are using the same email address for Billables AI and Clio (see below for more).
How can I make sure the Clio account emails match the Billables emails?
[For Clio admins] To double-check the emails associated with each Clio account, open Clio and go to Settings » Manage Users. There you'll be able to see each user and their affiliated email. If the emails are outdated, you can Edit on behalf of the user (they will receive an email to confirm) or request they update their emails themselves using this link.
[For individuals] Go to Clio, and click "Settings" on the left navigation bar. Click on "Profile", then click on the "Change Login Email" tab. Click "Change Email" to see your current login email and to update if needed.
How do the Clio UTBMS codes work with Billables?
If you use Clio's UTBMS codes, here's how it works with Billables:

If Clio UTBMS code syncing is enabled, Billables will pull in the UTBMS codes that the firm has enabled in Clio (see Clio help center article) and populate the Task and Activity Codes dropdowns in Billables with the same set of codes

Any codes that are assigned in Billables will automatically export back to Clio in the typical export process. Billables will enforce Clio's requirement that both a task and activity code are included before export.

Billables will learn to auto-assign task and activity codes for entries after you start approving entries with task and activity codes.
Do activity categories work with Billables?
Yes activity categories automatically sync when you enable Clio with your Billable account. Note: the activity categories sync 5 minutes after the integration is set up, so it can take a few minutes to populate everything.
